This year the SDPBRN Postgraduate Training Day took place at Dundee Dental Education Centre on Thursday, 21 June 2018. Over 30 delegates from across Scotland attended the Training Day comprising of Scottish Dental Postgraduate Fellowship Fellows, SDPBRN Rapid Evaluation Practitioners and Early Career Researchers. Linda Young welcomed and introduced everyone to the event and Jan Clarkson opened the morning session with Research Themes and Issues. Presentations were given by Mary McAuley and Sarah Kennedy about NHS Research Scotland (PPS) followed by Deirdre Kelliher who gave an insight into the Scottish Oral Health Research Collaboration. There was an interactive exercise on Research Questions and Methods (PPS) led by Derek Richards and the morning session was concluded with presentations from Sam Rutherford on Appraising the Evidence (PPS) and Linda Young on Using Statistics (PPS). The afternoon session was opened with another interactive session by Heather Cassie on Qualitative Analysis (PPS) followed by a presentation on QI in NHS Dentistry by Irene Black. Further presentations were given by Vinay Mistry on a QI Training Experience from a CT Perspective (PPS) and our final presentation was given by Madalina Toma and Gill Milner detailing Research into QI (PPS). The day was summed up by Linda Young. Feedback from the day was extremely positive with several delegates finding the event useful, informative and enjoyable.
